There aren’t that many books out there on moderating panel discussions, so when Antoni Lacinai published “Moderate Great: How to Successfully Prepare and Moderate Conferences, Seminars, and Panel Discussions,” I had to snap it up.
Clocking in at 105 pages, it’s a pretty basic primer on “moderating” events. In Europe (where he is from), that’s called “moderating.” In the US, the common term is “EmCee”, “Master of Ceremonies,” or simply “Meeting Host.”
Sure, there is a bit of a crossover, but Lacinai focuses mostly on the EmCee skills, primarily in the planning of the event and working with the event organizers, speakers, and/or panelists.
Nothing revolutionary here, but a good beginner primer for those getting started and reminders of the blocking and tackling needed to “moderate” an event
