High Stakes Meeting Facilitator
BENEFITS : FACILITATION

When you can't afford to screw up a very important meeting or event, we will match a highly qualified "high stakes meeting facilitator" to your organizational culture and desired outcomes.  Our facilitators are highly trained in a range of process tools and techniques, working with a variety of organizations.  They are quick on their feet, can adapt to any situation, and keep the energy up - all while guiding the group to achieve the desired deliverable.

Typically, our high stakes meeting facilitators use a short-term strategy we call "active facilitation" for specific facilitated events.  During team implementation projects, we may start off using active facilitation, gently tapering off our involvement, using a "developmental facilitation" strategy.

Active facilitation
The active facilitator usually addresses one-time or short-term needs. This approach is typically used to facilitate an event to meet the client’s needs. The facilitator ‘actively’ leads the team through the process to achieve the desired results.

Generally the client needs to make a decision quickly, solve a current problem, or find a way for a group of people to work together to agree on a plan of action. To achieve a specific objective and deliverable we discuss the issues with the team leader to ensure that we:
  • Address the client’s particular needs
  • Design a specific agenda
  • Design specific activities
  • Actively facilitate the session
  • Debrief/evaluate the session with the client

Developmental facilitators
The developmental facilitator uses long-term strategy. This type of facilitator typically combines facilitation, consulting, and coaching the team to achieve the objectives and deliverables over an extended period of time.

Generally the client needs more than an event to meet a specific objective. The facilitator takes a more coaching, rather than active, role during the actual meetings in order to observe team dynamics and intervenes in a way that teaches the team members facilitation skills.

The team learns over time how to facilitate their own processes, thus eliminating the need for outside facilitators. Our goal using this approach is to:
  • Observe team dynamics
  • Intervene appropriately
  • Teach the team how to facilitate their own processes and thus reduce or eliminate the need for outside facilitation services
  • Coach the team members on the process, roles, tools and techniques before and after the meeting
